Are Tall People Happier People?

It is said that tall people have more happiness than shorter people. Why is this when they have to buy custom fit clothes, bang their heads on door frames and get complained at at the movies for being in people's way? However these are the people that stand a greater chance of becoming a supermodel or playing professional basketball.

According to research carried out on figures from the national bureau of economic research, people who are above the 5 ft 10" average height have higher levels of happiness than short people. The men that said that they were not as happy with their lives in the study were on average around one inch shorter than the average height. This was also the same for the women who were not happy withe their lives, they were half an inch shorter than the average height for a woman. It is said that taller people have less negative feelings and are more content with their lives.

So why are tall people happier? Research shows that the reasoning behind the happiness is actually due to a good education and good income. It was proved that taller people on average tend to have more education than shorter people and therefore they have better income. It had nothing to do with height and it was this reason that they were deemed happier. There are plenty of happy rich short people and depressed tall people all around the world.

Another reasoning behind tall people's contentedness is that when they walk into a room they don't have to try and earn attention, they are instantly recognised for their height and attention is automatically given to them. Some say that the reason short people aren't as happy is because they have to make extra efforts to get attention where as tall people are just given it without trying for it.

Tall people do not have to make extra efforts for attention and so this improves their self esteem and therefore adds to their overall happiness levels. However these are just theories and as previously mentioned happiness can be easily gained through success in various other aspects of life.
