Are Paid Registry Cleaners Better Than Free Registry Cleaners?

By:

Much like other computer software, registry cleaners are available in two versions: freeware and software that you have to pay for. Now, if you are a DIY (do it yourself) computer fixer, you have undoubtedly tried to do your homework before downloading or installing any type of registry cleaning program, whether it be paid or free.

However, is paid software better than the free versions, or is the price for professional registry cleaning software just an unnecessary gimmick?
The real differences between paid and free software
In a general sense, there are a lot of differences between commercial registry cleaning software and the various freeware versions that you will find online.

However, instead of their being glaring differences between the cleaning and repairing abilities that these two types of registry cleaning programs offer, the differences show up in other areas:

-Safety
-Immediate and ongoing support
-Compatibility
-User-friendly features

In many cases, a registry cleaner is a registry cleaner, regardless of who offers it or how much is paid for it. That doesnt inherently mean that free registry cleaners are better, nor the opposite -- it just means that if you have a malware-free registry cleaner, and it has been thoroughly tested and updated to fix bugs, it will probably get the job done.

However, the differences that we outlined above can make the free registry cleaner option much costlier than any paid version, even if you paid a premium for it.

The real problems with free registry cleaning software
Now, before we begin and to clear the air -- there is nothing wrong with using a free registry cleaning program. We are sure that there are free registry cleaners that will work out just fine for you. However, there are also inherent dangers to using a free registry cleaning program, especially if you are a self-professed computer novice.

For instance, registry cleaning programs are quite popular these days, and especially because of who the target audience is for these computer applications, there is a lot of malicious software floating around out there that poises itself as a registry fixer. Because of this, you really have to be careful when you are downloading a free registry repair program.

While you can still download software with a malicious element added to it even when you purchase software, the chances of that happening are less likely, especially if you do any type of research before you plop down $30-$100 for a registry cleaning program.

While downloading a spyware/virus/adware-infested registry cleaner is a possibility, potentially even more dangerous are clean programs that are just outdated and unsupported. Because cleaning a registry on a computer is, in some ways, like performing brain surgery on a human being, there can be serious consequences when the operation, or cleaning, does not run smoothly.

If you use an outdated registry cleaner that has unfixed issues, you can potentially cripple your machine, or render it useless, where you will have to format and reinstall your operating system. Paid registry cleaning applications have benefits, and one of the biggest is that the developers are paid to be sure that their software is up-to-date and that it does not harm your computer.

In the end, a clean, up-to-date and well-supported registry cleaner can offer the same benefits, in general, regardless of whether it is freeware or you have to pay for it. However, because of the very real risks that abound with freeware registry cleaners, we recommend that you choose a paid application, and even then -- do your homework before you buy.
