Are Anger And Frustration Taking Over?

By:

Are you frustrated or angry with your business or yourself? Do you sometimes just want to give up? Is it just too hard? How do you get past those feelings? We all get frustrated and angry sometimes. It is just part of who we are. The trick is to recognize those feelings and figure what to do with them.

When the feelings of anger and/or frustration are so intense that you can't even think straight, the best thing to do is to just take a break. Maybe you only need an hour, maybe you need the whole day. Take the time to deal with your feelings. If you force yourself to go on, you are functioning in a less than optimal state and you are more likely to make even more mistakes which will make you even more angry and frustrated. Do something you want to do or something that will make you happy. You will lose a lot less time in the long run if you take the time to regroup.

Avoid things that make you frustrated or angry, at least for a little while. Sometimes that means avoiding people that are constantly cheerful and upbeat. After all, sometimes there is nothing more annoying than someone in a good mood when we are really angry, especially if they try to tell us to be happy! Everyone needs time alone sometimes.

At some point, you need to bring yourself back on track. Start by trying to figure out what made you angry or what is making you frustrated. Should you be angry or were you overreacting? What is frustrating you? Is it happening all the time? What needs to change? Can it be changed? Do you need a small change or a major change in direction? Will that change or those changes help you more effectively accomplish your goals?

Anger and/or frustration can result in some needed changes in your business. Use those emotions to look at what you are doing and how you are doing it. Your business should be something you look forward to not something that causes you to be angry or frustrated. It focuses your attention on something that is going wrong and gives you an opportunity to make it right. You might be surprised at the ideas that can result when you take the time to deal with the problems instead of trying to just keep doing more of the same.
