Architectural Antiques

A Home Can Be a Castle

They say every man"s home is his castle, and with architectural antiques a home can really become a castle. Today, there are houses that have been standing for many, many years, yet we never thought of them more than old dilapidated structures - more a beast than a beauty. But, that is where the mistake lies. These houses sometimes hold works of art that have either been forgotten or possibly not ever seen at all.

But, adding these timeless pieces of architectural antiques could take a house back in time. A door knob on an ordinary door today, could have been touched by people living in the 1800"s, an oak door could have stopped people even before then and an arch could have let through people from further back in time. And if the new owner happens to be so lucky as to actually get antiques that have stories of renowned people or happened to be part of a remarkable moment in time, it could make the present residence worth many times more than its original investment and not just financially.

Where to Look

Anyone looking to build a home that exists in more than one point of time should start looking for architectural antiques. The obvious place to look for them would be in an area that has been lying derelict for some time and is even being considered to be run down and the buildings are going to be demolished.
These are usually place where no one wants to be, and even if they do happen to be there, they wouldn"t care to look in at the hidden beauty. But these ventures could be fruitless if a person has no clue what to look for and a little bit dangerous too.

While this would usually require some time, energy and money put aside for hunting, bargaining and then purchasing the antiques (if they have owners at all), there is a simpler option. One store has an amazing collection of the antiques: Old Good Things. There are door knobs, arches, room dividers and stone decorations that would crown any building. Check them out!
