Dark colored carpets are apparently easier to deal with than light colored carpets. This is true up to a certain point. A stain on a light carpet will be seen immediately and will be taken care of immediately before it penetrates the fibers. The same stain on a dark colored carpet may not be noticeable, time may go by before it is taken care of, and this could turn into something permanent.

Stains must be dealt with immediately; they must not be allowed to sink into the heart of your carpet. The color of the carpet is not important, it is not important if it is visible or not either. An unattended stain may produce odors or smells later on even after it is dry because it has penetrated the carpet. This is very hard to remove once it happens.

Make sure that you use recommended carpet cleaners in your home and office. Do not experiment, ask the company who sells or distributes the carpet you bought for a recommendation on the cleaner you should use. They will know what will clean their product best and faster.

If you clean only the area that is stained the remaining carpet will still be dirty when you are done removing the stain. You may not notice the difference close up but if you back away you will be able to see the clean spot on the otherwise dirty carpet. It is necessary to clean the whole thing so that there is no visible difference between one place and another.

Carpet cleaners are made for different kinds of fibers and carpets. It is impossible for one cleaner to function properly in all kinds of carpets. Be sure when you buy your carpet to keep a piece so you can test the cleaner you will use. If this is not possible ask the carpet salesman what carpet cleaner you should use to get the best results on your carpet.
