Apple a day keeps the doctor away, that is the saying, because if you are to eat one apple each day it will eliminate the necessity of you visiting your physician in the future. What we can take from that is the health benefits of apples are so great you will never suffer from any ailments or sickness if you implement them into your regular diet routine.

The typical glycemic load for an apple is around three. Glycemic load is the combination of both the quality and the quantity of carbohydrates into one easy number.

When you exercise you burn carbs, so foods with lower carbs are better if you are trying to lose weight. The apples inflammation factor is astounding at record levels of negative 21; you can be safe in knowing that the apple is close to number one in inflammatory preventatives.

Inflammation can cause all sorts of problems like rashes or fevers or even infections. So that is definitely something you should work to avoid.

The apple has a lot of little quarks that make it a staple in a healthy diet. The flavonoid called phloridzin is found only in the apple, and this little flavonoid is helpful maintaining of strength in bones of post-menopausal women.

Recent research shows apples help in preventing asthma, women who eat apples during pregnancy have fewer cases of children born with asthma. Children with asthma who drink apple juice more frequently than children with asthma who do not are found to have less coughing and wheezing.

A study at Cornell University shows that apples make help against the free radicals that cause Alzheimer's disease. The anti-oxidants go and protect specific brain cells form damage.

Apples also lower cholesterol at least they lower bad cholesterol or LDL. Apples are high in a substance called pectin.

These fruits are also helpful in preventing several different types of cancer such as, lung cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer and liver cancer. It is the high anti-oxidants that prevent these types of ailments.

The aforementioned pectin in apples actually lowers the bodies need for insulin, making it a very useful fruit for those who have a hard time managing their diabetes. Diabetes is one of the fastest growing diseases in the nation today, and should be not taken lightly.

To avoid diabetes make sure you are eating healthy foods; you cannot live on a diet of deep-fried pre-processed junk from a fast food chain. Those foods hold no nutrients and are basically empty carbs.

When eating empty carbs your body craves more because it can't tell that it is full. So getting in a habit of fast food can be detrimental to your health.

So remember these saying "apples, not fast food". If ever you need a reminder then you will have the saying to refer to.
