Recent studies show that apples have a certain antioxidant that is so good for you when your sick. If you have a sore throat and are lying on a bed chewing an apple, you can feel the apple juice going down your throat.

Apples have natural pectin and soluble fiber which is great for the health of your heart and circulatory system. If you looked at a chemical analysis of an apple, you would find that there are thousands of phyto-nutrients that can really benefit your health.

Many phyto-nutrients in apples haven't even been discovered yet as to what they can do for you. Many natural health enthusiasts will go on an apple fast for a few weeks while apples are in season.

The purpose of this fast is to cleanse the body of all the garbage. Also, if you are hungry and eat a big apple slowly, you can really get filled up.

This is helpful for people trying to lose weight, because they can get filled up on something that is low in calories, but high in nutrient density and fiber. If you try this, you can feel great while you lose weight.

There are many varieties of apples and some are more nutritious than others, you can access a chart that will show you the differences in nutrition. Granny Smith green apples are very tart, but they have a special nutrition higher than the other ones.

Many people like to use Granny Smith green apples for their tartness. They can be used for pies, dehydrated for a snack or cut and used for dipping in a caramel sauce.

Raw apple juice is known as apple cider and is very nutritious to drink. It gets a brown color when juiced, but is still delicious.

If you are one of those people that likes to make green smoothies, apples are a good choice to use to juice with the greens. They are most compatible digestive wise with the greens and will add flavor to make the greens more palatable in juice form.

New fresh apples stay white a long time when cut open. But, the older the apple is, the quicker it will turn brown when it is cut. This is a great way to see how old your apples are getting.

As the apples get old, you may be tempted to just throw them away. They are not crisp but end up having a softer crunch.

Use these old apples for making applesauce. Just cut them up and steam the pieces like vegetables and then put them in a blender to the two cup mark with one 1 tsp cinnamon if you like, and one fourth cup water at a time as needed to blend it all up for some fresh applesauce.

You can also just use a potato masher or a fork and mash the pieces in a bowl until it resembles applesauce. Then, add 1 tsp allspice, two teaspoons lemon juice, 1 tablespoon of raw organic sugar for a wonderful taste.

This applesauce can be used as a snack or in baked goods to replace the oil if you want to lose weight or have a healthier and more economical muffin or cake. Enjoy the apples nature has given you, they are a better choice than junk food.
