Apple Iphone 5 To Be Slimmer & Include Quad-mode Lte Chip For 3g, 4g

Investment bank Morgan Stanley hints that the next-generation iPhone will be slimmer and be equipped with a quad-mode chip, when it lands later this year. Furthermore the Investment bank even notes that the quad-mode chip will be from Qualcomm that would let for 3G and LTE functionality across all networks.

Katy Huberty, the analyst noted to investors that the Cupertino California giant will remain impermeable to a broader decline in customer demand during the technology industry through the release of its iPad 3 in the first half of 2012 and the launch of a thinner iPhone later this year.

She says that the Data points for Apple are mostly positive, since the Cupertino Company is projected to maintain unit shipments this quarter, contrast to a 10 percent chronological decrease from the December quarter in the market.

Huberty thinks that the production for the iPad 3 will ramp up at the end 1Q. She expects that Apples next-generation tablet will feature a higher resolution display. Regarding the next generation iPhone Huberty says that the iPhone remained sparse, but she considers that the iPhone 5 will be ready at the end of the 2Q, and the launch will depend on manufacturing yields, and further expects that the next-generation iPhone will hit the market in 3Q.

According to Huberty, new touch panel technology will let Apple to make the device thinner; moreover she claims that the Cupertino Company is considering new casing materials.

The analyst noted that in the December quart, Apple has benefited from a decision to keep the iPad 2 on the market at a less price tag after the third-generation iPad lands. Ahead to the March quarter, the Companys strength seems to be iPhone 4S driven, while the signs as well point to the iPad performing better than seasonal during the period.

Huberty claims that the next-generation iPhone will include Qualcomms quad-mode chip that would let it to run on all 3G and LTE networks, although she says it was too early to know for sure. Further she added that if the Company were to link a contract with China Mobile then it would raise confidence that Apple would use the chip.

On the other hand, latest reports have hinted that Apple is in discussions with carriers to release LTE-compatible iOS devices later this year. The company is as well said to be in talks with China Mobile and has allegedly provided the worlds largest carrier a positive answer on an upcoming LTE iPhone compatible with its network.

Hubertys Asian sources recommended that the Cupertino California Companys strength will be the exception, more willingly than the rule, in the coming year. She even noted that the PC makers have to determine pricing for ultrabooks especially; the laptop categorys bill-of-materials wants to fall in order to strike a selling price, which will grab high volumes. Even this remains unclear when or if these price cuts can eventually stimulate Ultrabook demand.

Within the mobile industry, she sees non-iPhone smartphone demand as having tapered off in latest weeks. She warned that Qualcomm might offer sub-seasonal guidance for its Mobile Station Modem chips in the Q2 of 2012 consequently of the slowdown in demand.
