Apple is suppressing on launching the
ipad 2 case in Japan, since the country holds
coping with last week's earthquake and tsunami and facing ongoing concerns over nuclear plant explosions and fires.
The Cupertino, Calif., tech giant had scheduled its
ipad 2 covers release in Japan for March 25 and would not offer a new release date when it confirmed the delay, according to a written report from Reuters.
"We are delaying the launch on the
leather ipad 2 covers in Japan as you move country and our teams look into recovering from the recent disaster," Natalie Kerris, an Apple spokeswoman, told Reuters.
Kerris said Apple's go on to delay the iPad 2 launch in Japan had absolutely nothing to do with any component supply shortages, in accordance with Reuters.
The iPad 2 started sale while in the U.S. on Friday, selling in many Apple stores, and even at Best to buy, Target, AT&T, Verizon and Wal-Mart locations.
The
iPad2 cases is set to push out in 2 dozen other countries later, Reuters said.
Japan landed about 5%, or $1.4 billion, of Apple's revenue in the final quarter of 2010, the report said.
[Updated 5:26 p.m.: Apple spokeswoman Natalie Kerris confirmed the delay on the Technology blog.
"As of now, there are no era date set to your
ipad 2 accessory in Japan," Kerris said, reiterating which the move takes place away from respect for Japan's efforts to extract from your recent earthquake and tsunami.
