Apple 3g Iphone Wins 'gadget

The public votes have been counted following Stuff magazine's annual Gadget of the Year award, with the Apple iPhone 3G coming out on top.

The touchscreen handset fended off other hot-tech nominees such as the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, WiiFit and B&W Zeppelin iPod speakers to be designated the public's number one lifestyle companion. The nominated products were judged on their performance, design and value as well as, according to Stuff's editor Fraser MacDonald, 'that elusive cool factor'.

The magazines own gadget of the year prize, chosen by its editorial staff, went to the Asus Eee Pc, a no-frills laptop that costs less than 300 pounds.
