Anywhere On The Costa Blanca Is Great For A Holiday

It doesn't matter which town, village or seaside resort you choose for your COSTA BLANCA HOLIDAYS, you will have the time of your life. Starting on the southern part of the Costa Blanca you have the beautiful towns of Pilar de la Horadada or Torrevieja. These towns are in the Alicante Province which is situated on the Mediterranean coast and in turn are a part of the Valencian Community. If you stop and think about the name Costa Blanca, you will soon realize that it translates to the White Coast. Nothing could be closer to the truth especially with the pristine white sandy beaches. When you add this to the whitewashed buildings and the white hot sun you soon understand why they named this part of the Mediterranean coastline as they did. As you look at the villages that line this coastline such as Altea, Javea, Benidorm, Moraira, and Alicante they will remind you of a lovely white string of pearls.

The best place to fly into is the international airport in Alicante. It is only eight kilometres from Alicante's city centre and can be reached from the airport by taxi, hire car or bus. Once you are in the city centre, there is an excellent public transportation system that will take you almost any place alone the coast. If you are staying in Alicante, the first thing you will notice is the ancient hill with the Santa Barbara castle standing on top of it. Alicante was built by the Carthaginians in 300 BC and has survived almost intact to this day in spite of all the wars it has suffered through. Today the castle is open to the public and is a great place to spend the day.

There is a beautiful promenade in Alicante separating the town from the harbour. It is beautifully tiled and covered with flowers and palm trees. As you stroll along the promenade, you can't help but notice the melodic music being played by a local band. This soulful music only adds to the hypnotic feeling you get from the sea breeze gently blowing through your hair. As you continue your sojourn along the promenade, you will see peddlers selling locally made handicrafts that are worth a look at.

If you are seriously interested in learning a little more about the town you are in, then your first stop should be at the local tourist information centre. They have maps and pamphlets outlining the most important places along with a short history of each one that you should visit. Articles on the local festivals are also available here. One of the most important festivals is the Sant Juan Bonfires on 24th June. This is when they construct figures of local dignitaries and international figures in cardboard and then on the appointed hour they are all burnt to nothing. This festival started during pagan times, which coincided with spring cleaning, hence the elimination of bad spirits or cleaning house.

While you are on your COSTA BLANCA HOLIDAYS, take the opportunity to visit the most vibrant city on the coast, Benidorm. This is a place where you can simply stretch out on the beach, or if you brought the kids with you there is a wonderful theme park just for them. The children will get a good education when visiting the Terra Mitica theme park. It has attractions that replicate such places as Egypt and Rome along with rides and attractions which exemplify that theme. There is also the fabulous water park of Aqualandia where young and old alike can enjoy the water sports. For the adults, this place is known as the party capital of the Costa Blanca, and rightly so. It has numerous bars, nightclubs and discos where you can dance the night away. Before your night out there are the gourmet restaurants, tapas bars and cafes where you can get ready for the night time activities.
