Anywhere Is Possible With Hayden Christensen In Jumper

Imagine if you had the power to teleport yourself anywhere in the world in the blink of an eye. Obviously that's not possible, but it doesn't stop us everyday human beings from dreaming about it. In 2008, our dreams came to life with a brilliant action film starring two former Star Wars actors, Hayden Christensen and Samuel L. Jackson. With over fourteen countries presented throughout the film, it really seemed to those in the audience that teleporting yourself anywhere in the world was truly possible. The catch? You have to be born a Jumper.

Jumper is the story of a young, motherless boy named David Rice, who discovered at an early age that he had the power to jump, or basically teleport, himself to any location he desired. He realized this power when he nearly drowned trying to retrieve a snow globe for his crush, Millie, from a freezing river in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Upon this amazing discovery, he packed his bags and headed to the Big Apple, looking for a new life. From there, he robs a bank in order to get by then goes on to live a comfortable life.

But one day, after years of adventures around the world, he becomes trapped in his lofty NYC apartment by a Paladin member, Roland Cox. He escapes and later goes to Rome with Millie, then meets another jumper named Griffin at the Roman Coliseum. He then journeys down a path on the run from the Paladins, an ancient religion-based group that believes that only God may have that kind of power and goes around the globe, trying to kill of the last of the jumpers.

We are taken from Michigan to Rome, Tokyo to Egypt, all in the name of keeping away from a group of madmen who believe killing jumpers is the only solution to the world's problems.

The special effects are absolutely stunning, and there's truly an international flavor with so many different places featured throughout the film. There is also plenty of action. In fact, the too-close-for-comfort moments David often finds himself in will have you gripping the edge of your seat for the entire length of the movie. Although some portions appear unrealistic, because of the basis of the jumpers' powers, you realize that anything is possible in a film like this (even double decker Londoner buses soaring down the desert slopes next to Egyptian pyramids).

It's not just about David's journey to win back the girl he loves, but an epic battle to save not only his own life from the ruthless Roland Cox, but Griffin's as well. We also see David try to put the pieces of his family's puzzle together, learning why his mother left him when he was just five years old.

So at the end of the day, Jumper is a magnificently directed film with enough jaw-dropping moments to get the action film fans excited, yet has enough romantic and family-bonding moments to keep the plot-focused fans satisfied as well. Clearly a lot of effort was put into making this action film possible, and it's sure to take you on a wild ride as you jump with David all over the world.
