Anxiety Can Be Chronic

Anxiety is an emotional state where the individual would be afraid of certain situations such as anticipated exams. Anxiety may occur without any specific cause or rational reason.

Anxiety is today one of the worlds most occurring social and health problem. It is associated with several diseases. Its rise is due to the increasing stress factors in the society such as joblessness, poor relationships, limited social networks among others. Anxiety can be chronic and in such situations and may lead to more complicated disorders. If not checked it may progress to clinical disorder which may require specialized psychiatric care.

Detecting signs and symptoms of anxiety from early stage may prevent progression to clinical or mental disorder stage.

Here are some of the symptoms of anxiety that may point to the need for specialized care:

Stomach upsets: regular or persistent occurrence of stomach upset may be an indicator of anxiety disorder. This is often associated with bloating, where the abdomen feels full of gas. It may also be associated with increase bile acid production which may lead to indigestion. If it continues for a long period, abrasion in the walls of the stomach may occur and lead to wounds or ulcers in the stomach. It is therefore important that any regular stomach upsets are reported to the physician to eliminate stress related causes and anxiety.

Diarrhoea: this often occurs in the early stages of development of anxiety or any stressful situations. Diarrhoea occurs due to the change in the stomach pH. The resident bacteria such a E.Coli suddenly become unwanted pathogens. Their products of metabolism also become poisonous.

I am Dahn Yoga student and as my experience breathing difficulties: these are observed at the early stages of anxiety disorder and become worse with advancement of the problem. This is due to changes respiratory rates.

Strong feeling of guilt: this often accompanies anxiety especially those associated with fear of recurrence of a nasty situation.

Repeat experience: These are flashbacks that occur as part of an attempt to deal with a traumatic past. It may also be accompanied by bad dreams or frightening thoughts.

Re-experiencing symptoms may cause problems in a persons everyday routine. They can start from the persons own thoughts and feelings. Words, objects, or situations that are reminders of the event can also trigger strong feeling of guilt and worry. The reverser can also happen leading to emotional numbness.

Avoiding similar situations: These are usually an attempt to escape from the thoughts and feelings of the event that caused the trauma. For example, a person who is suffering from anxiety disorder due to violent past may avoid noisy places and any signs of violence. Any sign of repeat of the traumatic situation may trigger anxiety and may even lead to change in personal routine.
