Anti Slip Floor Coatings Allowing For Safe Movement

By:

With anti slip floor coating, it is important to be sure of the production method used, so that you have sufficient knowledge of your working environment and how it is put together. It is said that if you truly know all about your environment, your levels of productivity will increase and your quality of work will improve greatly.

The anti slip flooring production method begins with the application of a primer coat, being rolled down, and followed by a scattering of aggregate. Amounts of additive used will vary depending on how anti slip the surface needs to be. You will generally have a choice of bauxite and granite, which are equally hard wearing, or marble and carborundum, if you require a more decorative finish.

After this stage is complete, the primer will then be left to cure. After the curing has taken place, a top coat of sealer is then applied in order to fix the aggregate into place on the surface. The following layer is the self levelling layer, which can be made to be anti slip in two different ways.

The first method
The first method is to apply a quartz aggregate to the resin layer, scattering the aggregate until the underlying layer is no longer visible. The way in which this is done is to apply small scatterings of aggregate to the surface in a fashion similar to scattering chicken feed or grass seed, so that the aggregate level builds up gradually. This will be sure to ensure that there are no big lumps or clumps of aggregate applied, which would otherwise disturb the underlying resin and cause bald spots later in the process which would lack anti slip properties.

The next step is to leave the floor coating to cure. Once this has taken place, the floor should be swept in order to remove any existing aggregate that is loose on the surface. Any aggregate that cannot be swept away as loose, unwanted surface aggregate, will therefore be bonded to the surface. However, the process is not complete, there still needs to be another layer to seal the floor coating. Due to the deep level of the self levelling layer, larger aggregate types can be used, so providing a more substantial anti slip flooring type.

The second method
The second method of anti slip flooring is achieve by laying the self levelling layer with a smooth surface profile , followed by sealing it once it has cured with a top coat that will have a fine aggregate scattered into it. This will then be followed by a second top coat.

Regardless of the method of anti slip flooring that is used, you will be sure to achieve a great anti slip flooring surface, which will allow you to move freely in environments that previously held the risk of slippage and so a fear of fast or swift movement.
