Anti-Aging Cream Ingredients; What's in Those Potions and Lotions

Vitamins A, C E and K are common ingredients in many anti aging creams. Vitamin A comes in many forms, and they all have different properties. Some can limit wrinkles, some can exfoliate skin and some are known to improve skin tone. Retinol and Tretinoin are both different forms of Vitamin A. In order to be effective, they must be mixed in specific proportions and stored properly. Many over-the-counter Vitamin A products are too week to make a big difference, and are often sold as prescription products. Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is also a common ingredient in anti aging creams. It sparks the production of collagen, which fills in the skin's crevices and reduces wrinkling. Look for ascorbic acid levels of 10-15% for maximum effectiveness. Vitamin E is an antioxidant which can help your skin resist the affects of impurities, and nourish cells deeply, softening and healing damaged skin. Vitamin K has a reputation for decreasing the appearance of dark circles under your eyes and balancing out skin tones.

Green Tea is also found in some anti aging products. An antioxidant just like Vitamin E, green tea is reputed to slow the signs of aging, and its presence in skin care products is becoming more and more common. Green tea extract slows the symptoms of aging, soothes irritated skin and brings oxygen deep into the regenerating layer of skin cells at the base of your skin. Sea Buckthorn is another ingredient that's increasing in popularity. It's derived from a seaweed and has been used for centuries to nourish damaged skin cells, including those that have suffered sun damage. Shea Butter moisturizes deeply and helps hide wrinkles. Unrefined, Shea Butter can provide a day's worth of moisturizing in one application.

You might consider talking to a dermatologist about your skin's needs, to learn how your skin is aging and to see which ingredients you should be focusing on in your anti aging cream regimen. Moisturizing is usually the best place to start, and a month's worth of moisturizing can usually diminish the appearance of those first fine lines. You might be surprised by how quickly the right ingredients can start working. Your skin starts losing cellulose when you're 15, so many women start to notice aging skin in their late 20's and early 30's, depending on how well they've cared for their skin in the meantime. See what your doctor says, and start an anti skin care regimen soon, you're not really getting any younger, are you?
