1. Why should I learn Spanish when everywhere I go people speak English?

There are growing Spanish speaking populations in the US, particularly in Texas, Florida, California, and New York. Most major US cities have communities of native Spanish speakers. Learning Spanish and being able to communicate with it can be helpful in unlimited social and business situations.

Since most people only use a small percentage of their own language's vocabulary in everyday conversation, you can speak well enough to function with a limited vocabulary.

Initially your goals might be that you want to be able to engage in small talk, order a meal at a restaurant (and get what you expected!), ask for directions, and ask how much things cost. You will also want understand the answers you receive.

3. Isn't it easier to learn beginner's Spanish as a child than as an adult?

That theory has been around for a long time, but now is changing. Numerous studies have shown this isn't true. So, now you can't use the excuse of being "too old" as a reason not to learn a new language.
