Anant H.mahadevan - Bollywood Director Cum Actor

Anant Mahadevan is also known as Ananth Narayan Mahadevan. He started his career as a television actor in the serial Khandaan in 1985. Prior to this he was also seen in the film UNCHI URAAN (1984). Anant Mahadevan first film was UNCHI URAAN (1984. Later he also acted in the film VIJAY (1988).

Yash Chopra directed this film. It also starred Rajesh Khanna, Rishi Kapoor, Hema Malini and Anil Kapoor. In the films CHANDNI (1989) and PHOOLWATI (1991) he played minor roles. The year 1991 also saw three more films in which Anant had acted.

These were NAACHNEWALA GAANEWALA (1991), VISHKANYA (1991) and PYAR KA SAAYA (1991). Anant Mahadevan made his debut in direction with the television serial INDRADHANUSH in 1989.He directed the film DIL VIL PYAR VYAR in the year 2002.

This was his first attempt at direction of films. It starred Madhavan, Jimmy Shergill, Sanjay Suri, Namrata Shirodkar, Sonali Kulkarni and Hrishita Bhatt. It did average business at the box office.In 2003, he directed the television series called DEVI.

In 2004, Anant directed the film DIL MAANGE MORE! It also starred Shahid Kapur, Soha Ali Khan, Ayesha Takia and Tulip Joshi. It did average business at the box office. In 2006, he directed the film AKSAR. This film starred Udita Goswami, Emraan Hashmi, Dino Morea and Irrfan Khan. It did average business at the box office.

In 2007, he directed and acted in the film STAYING ALIVE. It starred Saurabh Shukla and Navni Parihar. It did average business at the box office. In the same year he directed the film, ANJAAM (2007). He was the writer as well for the film. It stared Tusshar Kapoor and Emraan Hashmi. It did not do good business at the box office.

Anant Mahadevan directed Victoria No. 203: Diamonds Are Forever (2007). It starred Soniya Mehra, Jimmy Shergill, Om Puri, Anupam Kher, Javed Jaffery and Preeti Jhangiani. It did average business at the box office. In 2007 again, He directed the film AGGAR (2007).

This film starred Shreyas Talpade, Udita Goswami and Tusshar Kapoor. It did average business at the box office.
In 2008, he directed the film ANAMIKA (2008). It starred Dino Morea, Minissha Lamba, Koena Mitra, Aarti Chhabria and Gulshan Grover. It fared well at the box office.

The year 2009 saw only one film directed by Anant, which was RED ALERT: THE WAR WITHIN (2009). It starred Sunil Shetty, Sameera Reddy, Ashish Vidyarthi, Vinod Khanna and Naseeruddin Shah.

Anant Mahadevan has directed an upcoming Marathi film, Mee Sindhutai Sapkal, which is based on the life of a noted social worker, Sindhutai Sapkal. Sapkal was married at the age of 12 to a 30-year-old man.

Later her in-laws threw her out of her house. She begged for a living and would share her earnings with abandoned kids. Later she saved enough to start orphanages.

The film is starring Tejaswini Pandit, Jyoti Chandekar and Upendra Limaye. Sachin and Bindiya Khanolkar produced it. The film will be released on November 5. It will have its world premiere at the 54th London Film Festival.

Anant Mahadevan has written the stories of his films DIL MANGE MORE! (2004), AKSAR (2006) and ANJAAM (2007). He also wrote the screenplay for his film ANAMIKA (2008).
