Other significant aspects of the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu kimono include reinforced knees, seamless one-piece back and minimal seam usage. Reinforcement is also provided below the knees in certain pants.

Jiu jitsu rip-stop bottoms are a part of high quality uniforms. These tops are made of woven cotton with reinforcement. Emphasis here is on fabric that is pre-shrunk. This is one of the most important features because washing cotton fabrics could lead to shrinkage.

Bjj kimonos are made of four types of fabrics differentiated by their weights namely single, double, gold and platinum weave. Beginners are usually advised to wear the single weave fabric as jiu jitsu kimono made from this fabric is light in weight, affordable and easy to maintain. After playing the sport for a long time and determining your passion for the sport, you can then go on to the sturdy, double weave fabric that is heavier in weight.

If you are going in for the gold weave fabric Bjj gi, it means you are very seriously into the game and highly committed to regular practice. Gold weave fabric uses cotton fibers that are long stapled. If you want a light weight jiu jitsu kimono, then you must choose the platinum weave. This fabric comes with luster and offers enhanced comfort due to the high quality cotton used for its construction. It is also highly durable, as durable as the double weave. Brazilian jiujitsu gi made of platinum weave fabric is predominantly used by competitors and instructors.

Bjj kimonos come in different colors. Competitions however allow for white, black and blue. The uniform must be accessorized with the right color Bjj belts depending on the martial artists ranking.
