There is a lot of controversy about whether or not college is really necessary in order to obtain transcription jobs. Some people say yes and some say absolutely not. There is some truth to both opinions. The route that you choose to take is completely your decision.

Since everything related to the economy has been headed down south for quite some time now, people are looking into work-at-home alternatives. At first, the idea seems impossible because of the strong association between scams and work-at-home jobs. The good news is there are transcription jobs which have provided the work-at-home industry with a completely new and improved reputation.? And these jobs offer a fantastic medical transcriptionist salary.

Ordinarily, people can usually just start a job online with no experience. Depending on what your career goals are, you may not need to go to attend medical transcriptionist college. The upside is that you can start working right away, and start making money. The only issue is, how much money can you make? That is where the downside comes in. The money you make without any training is very little, probably between $2.00 and $6.00 per hour. It's the truth, there are people who actually settle for that and decide to stick with it. Sound less than ideal? Definitely.

To add to the poor pay you will have problems finding a job that will hire without experience. Typically, people have to offer their services at no charge until the company decides to hire them, if they ever do. The skills that are taught in transcriptionist college are extremely important to have when looking for transcription jobs.

One of the many upsides of getting an education is an easier time finding a higher-paying position. The starting pay for someone who is right out of transcriptionist college is about .08 cents per line, and hourly pay usually starts at about $9.00 per hour. As you can see, there is a very big difference. You're not going to get as frustrated trying to make out what the dictator is saying, and waste time researching the terms. The downside is that you have to wait until you complete your education before making that kind of money, which can take up to two years. But in the meantime, you may want to try offering your services for free or for a lower-paying wage if you really want to get to work right now.

If you choose to get enrolled into a transcription school, again, there are plenty of options. The internet offers a lot of information on transcriptionist colleges, which can be found by using Google or any other internet search engine. Accreditation is important, so be sure to check that out as well. You'll have a larger number of transcription jobs to choose from when you get training, and you won't have to look as hard to find work.

So, is training necessary? For higher pay and more opportunities, yes. If you want to work from home and just make a little money, then no it's not. Determine what your goals are before making a decision, and also think about your current situation. A quality education is recommended, but not required.
