An In-depth Look At Makeup Brushes

By:

Many makeup compacts and even eyelash extension products will typically include several small brushes, but owning a quality set of personal makeup brushes can be very useful. You will often find that the tiny brushes included with your eye shadow or blush compact, are not made for long term use, and do not do a good job of applying the makeup. You should be able to purchase a set of makeup brushes for a reasonable price, and this will prove to be a valuable investment over time.

You will have a variety of kinds of brushes to select from when shopping for makeup brushes. A large powder brush should be your first priority. For even application of powder, you will use this thick, soft bristle brush, with a large, rounded top.

A powder brush differs from a blush brush slightly in size. It can also be used to apply bronzer if you are using that. A blush brush is sized for the best application of blush to the areas of your face that need it. You should not use a powder brush for blush as you will not have control over where the color deposits. A good blush brush can provide definition to your features and will also cover appropriately.

Most makeup brushes are designed for applying makeup to one's eyes. Your basic eyeshadow brush tends to have a square shape to the bristles making it perfect for applying to the eyelid and the brow.

You may need multiple brushes for multiple colors. It is also wise to select an angled brush. This type of brush is good for getting color into your eye crease and around the corners of your eyes. If you want to apply eyeliner or a more exact line of eyeshadow you will need a brush with a very fine tip.

You'll also want to look for brushes that are made with natural fibers, these will not fall apart as easily and will be easier on the skin. Wash your makeup brushes in warm water with suds every few weeks, this will eliminate any dead skin cells or makeup residue that has built up.

You should store your brushes separate from your makeup. They should be kept dry and clean in a bag or container. If your makeup brushes have become worn or old, don't be afraid to invest in some new ones. Makeup brushes can make the difference in your makeup application. And they don't have to cost a lot!
