An Electrician To Solve The Lighting Problem

By:

We all know to call an electrician when we remodel, update the currents in our homes, need whole house surge protectors, get a new telephone, television or data service, want surround sound, an intercom system, home safety inspection or for new construction. These services you are familiar with and you might call an Austin electrician to fix or install. What you might not think about is calling an electrician to install lighting for your home or yard.

Good yard lighting makes the yard inviting, attractive, and useable during good weather. Plan your outdoor lighting with activities in mind. If you have an outdoor ping pong table you would want surround lightening for maximum play. If you have an outdoor seating area, you might want softer lighting for conversation. Outdoor electric fire pits are popular right now and make a wonderful central focus for any patio area. Waterfalls and water features become stunning features when they are well lit. Lighting on gardens, specialty walls, statues, walkway and swimming pools bring the yard to life afterhours. A fountain or pool becomes magical when properly lit and adds beauty and interest to the yard.

Even if your yard is bare of such grandiose ornamental features, soft pleasing light adds ambiance and character to any yard and makes walkways and sidewalks safer.

Don't leave all that beautiful lighting in the yard; well-lit homes are also more visually pleasing. Track lighting highlights a special piece of art; task lighting over an island or workspace in the kitchen is a wonderful improvement. Dimmers in dining rooms or three-way lights on a stairway or hall make life just a little nicer. Good lightening can turn mundane into stunning. Think about what tasks are performed in each room and have lights installed accordingly.

Make sure ceiling lights and fans are hung high enough so taller people avoid bumping their heads. A neighbor once had four lights hung in their living room, kitchen, and dining room. A novice installer hung them all at the same height. While it was the perfect height for the island in the kitchen, her 6' 3" husband hit his head every time he arose from the couch until the installer was called to rehang them! The right height in one room is not necessarily the right height in another!

Austin electricians do remodels and new construction but don't forget if you want soft atmospheric lighting in your home or yard to give them a call also.
