Following years of development, Volkswagen has created a winning 4x4, which has revolutionised the rally car industry and they called it the Race Touareg. This trophy winning car showed its true abilities at the Dakar Rally held in January earlier this year, eventually winning the race with an impressive time of 47 minutes and 10 seconds.

Taking on the challenge of international motorsport seems like it comes easy to Volkswagen. Prof Dr Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Volkswagen Group said no doubt the 2009 Dakar Rally contributed to the fact that the Volkswagen brand is now shining even brighter around the world. The victory they earned this year has added extra kudos to the brand and has proven to be a good investment in the future of our company says Dr Winterkorn.

With a mindset that winning is always the goal, its no surprise the Volkswagen team raced ahead to the finish line. Spains former World Rally champion Carlos Sainz won the rally, but had his team-mate hot on his tail for the majority of the race. Downplaying his own achievements he commented on the close win saying what matters is that Volkswagen won.

Preparation is the key to winning, coupled with quick drivers, a reliable car and an experienced team, according to Motorsport Director Kris Nissen. This provides the perfect platform to fight for glory, cover the 9,500 kilometres of rough terrain and sprint to the finish line. In order to overcome the uneven ground you need a reliable 4x4, which can not only cope with the terrain, but can dominate it.

The Volkswagen is a vehicle with clean diesel technology and is successfully equipped with high performance design, according to AutomativeHeaven.com.
