Amsterdam Stag Weekends - Things To Consider When Planning A Action Packed Amsterdam Stag Weekend

Amsterdam - experiences to see by Day

Once a small fishing village, Amsterdam draws over 4 million visitors a year including stag parties galore. Throughout the day, the town is very quaint and pretty with its cobbled streets and 15th century houses with their loading hooks beneath the eaves, which remain used for hauling furniture in through the windows. The pretty shops and townhouses line the many canals for which the town is infamous, so a boat tour is a great way to commence the stag party. From the warmth (or shade) of the boat, depending on when you go, the boats give a guided tour of the most infamous and luscious bridges and architecture.

Speaking of the weather, winter months may be colder than Britain and the canals and ponds often freeze hard and are used for skating. The summer is sunnier and a little hotter than England so there is plenty of outdoor eating and drinking for pleasure-seeking stag parties in Amsterdam. The cuisine is international so you can eat something completely whacky. Try Indonesian, Armenian, Ethiopian or great old Chinese food, at prices similar to London.

Amsterdam is full of museums. The best of these is the Rijksmuseum with 150 rooms of fantastic paintings by all the Old Masters. The Anne Frank Museum is also an interesting account of life as a Jew throughout World War 2. The churches are well-worth contemplating as you stroll by. Many of them have Carillons which are keyboard instruments attached to bells and they are fabulous to hear playing tunes. After all that culture, settle down at one of the many outdoor cafes and appreciate a coffee or a locally brewed lager and watch the world go by.

Amsterdam - experiences to see at Night

The red-light district, De Walletjes, is a big attraction for tourists and stag parties alike. It's in Dam Square next to the Oude Kerk. Girls (and gentlemen) sit on display in the windows of quaint gabled houses along the cobbled streets. They carelessly file their nails or read a book whilst touting for company. Amsterdam is an 'open city' and these denisens of the evening are registered, regulated and taxed.

If you can't find a bar with a great view then book the Bar on Wheels. This genuinely is a stag party on wheels as the eighteen seats, complete with bar and an limitless barrel of free lager. The sound system on board keeps up the tempo and you can all lend a hand with pedaling. How unique is that!

There are also a host of own pubs, nightclubs and bars with plenty of flashing neon to guide you around on a grand stag party pub crawl. Just do not be the one to fall in the canal!

Top Tips

Walking is the greatest way to get around. Trams are fairly haphazard in their routes and willingness to stop, so if you hear a bell behind you, move quickly!

Pickpockets are rife in Amsterdam, so keep a hand on your wallet, especially on public transport.

A coffee shop doesn't just sell coffee in Amsterdam. Coffee shop owners can sell soft drugs provided it's no more 5 grams per person and the buyer is over 18. However importing, exporting and selling drugs are all earnest offences in Holland.
