Americans Have Developed Various Strategies For Weight Loss

Weight loss is desired by droves of Americans. New Years Day brings resolutions for the majority of the population to eat healthier, exercise more, and lose the fat they stored over the holidays. Health and wellness is among the most thriving industries in the world right now. On the surface, it is common knowledge to know what types of food are good for us and what foods are not.

Somewhere, however, we have been missing the mark, because the majority of what we consume is the bad stuff. If we eat a salad with our four pieces of pizza, we think that we have eaten healthy. While it is true that the salad probably contained quite a few nutrients, we just overdosed on calories, a lot of which were fat calories.

Changing our eating habits would be an excellent first step in controlling our weight. The challenge is that our culture places so much emphasis on food. Gourmet cuisines have surfaced on virtually every corner tempting our taste buds. Eating is fun too. For a date night out on the town, dinner is usually a centerpiece of the evening.

Exercise is an obvious step as well, and many Americans are following a strict exercise regimen. More exercise means more energy consumption, or in other words, more calorie burning. We know that we need to burn more calories that we consume in order to lose weight right?

It sounds easy, but for most of us, this is quite challenging. Many people considered obese have dreamed of a medical solution to weight loss. Surgical procedures such as a Gastric Bypass Surgery have been developed to help. These procedures certainly have their risks, however, because they seal off the majority of the stomach and skip a portion of the small intestine. This is obviously quite invasive, and has not been free from complications.

Another alternative that has actually been around since the nineteen fifties, involves the use of a hormone called human chorionic gonadotrophin or HCG. This is typically administered by a doctor by means of a weekly shot. In very recent years, there has been a resurgence of this procedure which has caused more convenient developments. Today, people can take an HCG drop under their tongue. Many have found success with this treatment, especially when combined with reformed eating habits focusing on nutritious foods, and increasing daily exercise.

Whatever strategy you choose, understand that weight loss takes a consistent effort over time. If you have tried a diet that has caused a quick drip on ten or fifteen pounds, such as in a low carb diet, understand that that ten or fifteen pounds was mostly water loss, not fat. If you stick with it, you can succeed.
