Want an amazing job? Want a job full of adventure in a virtual world? Do you love games and want to be the first of your friends to create new ones? If you said yes to all the above questions then I have a job for you! Become a game designer! Engulf yourself in the world of games and get paid for doing so.

How do you become a game designer you may ask? Well for starters you need to have a creative mind with cool ideas. Secondly you must play a lot games. Sounds good right? Well there is a downfall; you have to play even the ones you don't like. While you're playing those games you need to analyze them. What did you like about them? What did you not like? Does it need improvement or is it perfect? Lastly what made it stand out from all other games?

Learn to love and enjoy books. Pick up every game design book you can find. Go in depth. Read about general development, production, and any other book that can really get the creative side of your mind jogging. While reading take notes; every book has some lesson to be learned and you will need to know this lesson to be the best game designer you can be. Next get online. Search all over for useful information. Look in search sites, forums, and blogs. There are even schools where you can go to fill your need for game design information.

When your mind is full of all the wonderful information of game design it is time to get started. You will need to know the life of a game designer. I know, I know, you're saying "What more is there other than playing games and creating them?" Well when you first start out you won't be able to express your creative ideas. Not until you're in the game design world for a while. You will also have to be willing to work long hours and have a constant want to improve your skills. But hey don't get down yet. There is an upside. Usually office hours are flexible as long as you get your core hours in. The dress code is...well there is none. You get to where whatever is comfortable.

You're not going to be able to get a job in game design just yet. You have to start in a different department; like in quality assurance, technical support, or customer service. Usually it is not hard to get a job in these departments unless there are no game developers in your area. Then you would have to relocate to southern California, Austin, Boston, or other areas in the U.S.

Once you have a job all you have left to do is prove your better than everyone else who wants the same position. The three tips to help you are: Don't complain, work hard and get over yourself. Always offer good advice on how something could improve. If you don't like something you are doing think positive, it could be worse. Don't slack off; things are harder than they seem. There is often a dead line in which they need to be done. Lastly become friends with your co-workers. You will be working with them so the least you can do is grow to like them.
So what are you doing just sitting there? Pick up that control and get playing. You never know, it just may get you the coolest job in the world.
