Am I Eligible For Medicaid?

By:

If you are one of the many people who really don't know much about the government's Medicaid health insurance program, you are not alone in the confusion. Adult requirements for Medicaid, leave many of these adults non eligible, due to not meeting the criteria set forth in the the programs guidelines.

This government program is extremely helpful to children under 18 years of age and still living at home. It is also used by pregnant women and continues to be available through the post natal exams. These are just a few examples of people with extremely low incomes, who cannot afford to pay the health care premiums, but benefit greatly by this program.

In cases, where income levels and requirements have yet to be met, is the only exception where this coverage goes beyond this group of individuals. In families where the income is above poverty level, but do not have a health insurance supplement from their employer for any children under 18, a supplemental health insurance plan will extend into the family to cover these children. Medicaid's new plan is much like a safety net for this eligible group and is designed to ensure all children have the health insurance coverage they need.

Depending on what region you live in, you will find this plan and it availability might be under a different extension, but the Medicaid office can point you in the right direction and forward your application to the correct office, should you be denied the benefits of Medicaid. However, income requirements is the only reason this will happen and not based on any other denials.

Children and pregnant women are really the only true benefactors of Medicaid, even though it was designed for those in need. There are many helpful government programs; but unfortunately are not available to the general population because of the requirement guidelines. This fact alone is causing the gap to widen, leaving by the wayside many people struggling with high insurance premiums or having no insurance, which will eventually have a negative impact on everyone. While the United States is experiencing a growing health care crisis, it is time for the government to step up to the plate and seriously address this crisis with answers that will benefit everyone. This health care crisis is every ones concern because of the extra cost. One answer is a system in balance where everyone can afford health insurance, either with affordable premiums or cash. Either way something has to be done soon in America to stop the rising cost of health care.
