Always Vet A Garage Before They Work On Your Car

When it comes to getting your car serviced or MOTed then you must be sure to choose your garage well. There are far too many stories of garages taking advantage of car owners and charging them way more than they need to.

I was recently going to get an MOt on my car and I saw as sign saying MOT Runcorn as I was driving along. I thought I would drop in and have a chat in person rather than just take a look in the yellow pages or on the internet and try to choose a garage that way.

Well Im glad I did pop in and I would certainly recommend it as a good way to vet a new garage before you use them. By dropping in I was able to take a look around the place, see the staff that worked there and have a good chat to the owner about my needs.

I was able to ask about whether they were used to working on cars the same make and model as mine. They seemed very knowledgeable about them so that was a great start. The owner was also able to run me through what I needed in terms of car servicing in runcorn each year and what they could offer me to support this.

It was a bit like going to see the doctor as he effectively ran through what I should be doing each year to keep my car healthy.

When they are conducting car servicing in runcorn they always ensure they record the mileage and then let you know at what future mileage level you need to go back in for the next service. They write this on a little sticker which they put on your windscreen so that you can keep checking it against the mileage.

They also put you on their database and will get in touch with you when they think you will be nearing the time for a service and they will always remind you a couple of weeks before your MOT is due so that you do not miss this date. This is important as you will be breaking the law if you do not get your MOT done at the correct time each year.

One of the main things I got from popping in to the garage in person was a sense as to whether or not I trusted the guys. I guess this comes down to intuition and gut feeling at the end of the day but as this is all you really have to go on then its important to get this.

This particular garage also had lots of letters and testimonials from previous customers stuck on a noticeboard in their office so this too gave me some reassurance.

Whilst it is obviously possible to find a good garage by searching the usual channels of the local directories or by using the search engines I feel that you get a much better chance of making the right decision if you go and see potential garages in advance and see what your first impressions are of them.
