The principal activity of the Group continues to be business communications focused on service provision and systems integration. In addition the Group have also started to provide billing services.

As a service provider, the Group supplies a range of services including managed network services, non-geographic number services, mobile phone and data services, and internet and broadband service provision. The Group also supplies, installs and maintains business telephone systems and associated integrated communications applications. In terms of billing services, the Group provides software and consultancy specialising in the telecommunications industry.
The principal activity of Alternative Networks plc is business communications focused on service provision.

On 1 October 2010 the Group acquired 100% ordinary shares of Scalable Communications plc (Scalable). Scalable is a computer network integrator which specialises in delivering converged solutions around IP networks, IP security and IP telephony exclusively to business customers. This acquisition will help accelerate cross selling opportunities within the Group as the respective customer bases are highly complementary. It also provides a platform for new revenue streams on which to grow managed data networking services. Further details are provided in the Chief Executive Officers Review.

The Group has extended its contracts to continue supplying O2 and Vodafone services until July 2013 and December 2012 respectively.
