This article would be a lot shorter if I listed the things which aloe vera doesnt do. But as that would be boring and pointless, lets see what aloe benefits there are and what they can do for you and your overall health.

A little history first the aloe vera plant is fleshy and succulent and aloe benefits have been known and documented for thousands of years. Cleopatra used the juice as a moisturizer and the Egyptians wrote about its valuable healing powers in their papyrus texts; they called it the Plant of Immortality which cured skin ailments and infections. Aristotle persuaded Alexander the Great to conquer the island of Socotra so that his armies could collect aloe plants and use the juice as medicine for wounded soldiers. Today, it is used universally for burns as it relieves the sting almost immediately, keeping the skin hydrated and protected.

But there are hundreds of other aloe benefits. Its full of anti-oxidants which destroy those pesky free radicals and support your immune system. This miracle plant is also crammed with anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, so drinking the juice regularly will also strengthen your immune system as it stimulates the bodys production of those cells which fight infection. Many report that once they started taking it regularly, they never became sick again, not even a head cold. Its wonderful for keeping your digestion on track by cleansing your colon and acting as a detoxifier - and many claim that aloe vera can heal gastro-intestinal ulcers. Other aloe benefits - it helps regulate blood pressure and blood sugar, accelerates the healing of broken bones, relieves arthritic joints and, good news for those with eczema or psoriasis it soothes the itching.

Like anything else, too much of a good thing is a bad thing. You need just two to four ounces of aloe juice daily to get all the aloe benefits possible more than that can make your digestive system too efficient. Now, no argument here - it doesnt taste that good, but there are aloe juice products on the market which provide all those wonderful aloe benefits as well as tasting delicious. But, caveat emptor - read your labels when you go shopping for aloe juice and ensure that the one you choose has the logo of the International Aloe Science Council (IASC) on the label. This will ensure that it contains real aloe solids instead of just aloe flavor. Producers which grow and manufacture their own product are independently certified and youre assured that youre getting the best you can buy, making sure you enjoy all the aloe benefits.

The price you pay for your aloe juice will reflect its quality low priced aloe can still be called aloe but will not contain all the aloe benefits youre looking for. There are many products labeled aloe which contain practically no aloe at all. Dried aloe leaf is manufactured cheaply and has very little of the nutritive aloe benefits weve been discussing.

As with everything, you get what you pay for. Get the best aloe juice you can find and give it a trial for at least a month. It will stimulate your metabolism and is packed with vitamins and minerals, trace elements and about twenty different amino acids.
