Allowing Bodies To Return To Mother Earth

By:

Going green seems to be the theme among most companies and products nowadays, even among funeral materials. This seems only right in this case when you take into account the circle of life. With a person consuming the precious commodities of the Earth throughout life and polluting its atmosphere, it is only right that this should be paid back to some extent. One way that this can be accomplished is by each individual giving their bodies back to their mother earth to nourish her and allow her to bring forth fruit to feed her other children and inhabitants.

The human body, as it turns out, is actually very nutritious and beneficial to the Earth and the fruits it produces; this is why it is such a bad idea to cremate bodies since, when they are burned, even if the ashes do go back to the ground, most of the nutrients are taken out.

Although this is fast becoming the most popular way of disposing with bodies, the more traditional way during recent times is even worse for the environment. By putting a body in a sealed casket with a thick, metal shell allows the body to only be decayed within the casket never to return to its mother Earth.

There are several things that can be done. First, you can plan a small gathering in a park that is environmentally friendly (These parks can be found in most major cities thanks to federal and state mandates and legislation). As for the products used for memorial purposes, these are all made of biodegradable materials. The flowers are of course natural, and all of the paper products can be made by recycled paper. If the body is to be embalmed even, there are solutions available that are environmentally friendly. Another part of the funeral that is really important is the food, and that can all be organically grown.

The most important part of the funeral, however has to be with the way in which the body is buried, as previously mentioned. The best way to bury the body is by allowing it to decompose within the Earth in some way. Since it is the custom in most funerals these days to have a casket and the casket doesn't allow the body to return to it's mother Earth, it is possible to have both. There are caskets now made with an opening on the bottom which allow the body to be held within the casing until it is actually lowered all the way. This way, the guests can still enjoy the pleasant sight of the casket being lowered into the grave spot without knowing that the body is no longer in it when it raises.
