All You Need To Know To Be A Successful Rapper

To the casual observer, rapping may seem more flash than skill. But that would be like saying poetry is just finding words that rhyme. Rapping artfully blends cadence, social commentary, rhymes and music. Rapping tends to be a very personal art form, the rhymes coming from individual experience, such as recounting the struggles faced by those trying to rise above difficult circumstances. Rapping is frequently based in social activism, using rhymes to point out injustices. So to be a successful rapper who need to have rhythm, rhymes, a point of view and attitude.

When it comes to rapping timing is everything so you need to develop your ability to find a beat. The best way to learn is to listen to a lot of musical styles and identify the beat, which is typically carried by the drums. Think about when you dance unless you have absolutely no sense of rhythm, the sound you move your body to, is the beat. Once following the beat becomes second nature, youll be ready to create a vocal beat with your rhymes.

Start a rhyme book. Jot down some words and write as many rhyming words under it you can think of. Take a little creative license even if they dont rhyme exactly on paper, they may work perfectly when rapping. Keep your notebook with you at all times because you never know when inspiration will strike.

Think about your rap persona. What image do you want to project while rapping? Let your appearance be an extension of your music because rapping is a very visual genre of music. Body language conveys as much meaning as the words do. The important thing is to stay true to yourself so that youre comfortable with the persona you are projecting.

It is one thing to rap in front of the bathroom mirror; it is a whole different experience to put yourself on the line and rap in public. But performing in front of an audience is the only way to perfect your rhyming delivery and develop the ability to engage the audience and interact with them. Rapping is an art form that needs practice and dedication to master so the more you perform in public, the better a rapper youll be.
