All You Need To Know About Electric Radiators And Electric Heaters

When you need a new heating solution, the first area to consider is are you looking for a new heating solution for one or two rooms or the whole house or building.

If you have a new room such as a conservatory or attic conversation, and already have gas central heating we would not advise to change the whole system. It would be costly and savings benefits now realized for many years to come.

If you are renovating a whole house, or the gas central heating as broken beyond repair then you are most likely looking for a new heating solution for the whole building.

A key feature of the electric heater is that the radiator looks like a gas central heating radiator however it plugs into wall socket and runs off electricity. It is water filled.

What this means is that the heater can be switched on and off in each room when required.

This feature alone delivers massive costs savings. If the living room is a little chilly, then just flick the switch and warm up that room only rather than the whole house. They cost less to run and the individual unit only needs switching on.

If a new conservatory is being built then it makes sense to have an electric radiator rather than have gas safe gas engineers change the gas system in the home in order to add on a gas central heating radiator into the heating system. The rule also applies to loft conversions and extensions for bedrooms or kitchens and even garage, workshops and office annex garden buildings.

Storage heaters have usually a good name however electric radiators have several benefits even over storage heaters. Storage heaters can be complex to use and deliver heat whether you are at home or not. They can also be costly to run. The flexibility is very limited.

There are various models of electric radiators available on the market. A few models have a built in thermostat which means that when the room temperature dips below a specified temperature the unit will switch on until that specified temperature is reached.

Many electric heaters come with a digital remote control. Just flick on the radiator when you wish to without moving from the comfort of your chair.

Low surface temperature radiators are perfect for public sector buildings including care homes and nurseries. The low surface temperature feature meets with health and safety policies and also means that the radiator grills, mesh and covers that are often seen in public places are redundant.

Like conventional radiators the room size and wall material will determine the correct electric radiator. Reputable suppliers will help you with this.

Electric heating over traditional gas heating can bring great rewards, but it is not ideal for everyone. If you already have a functioning gas central heating system, then having it removed and electric heating replace it, may not be economical, at least not for many years.

Always choose a supplier who complies with legislation and supplies approved heating solutions, and also complies with WEEE regulations.
