It is something you see in movies or TV ads - a man walks in a department store and all of a sudden gets an unexpected breeze of perfume from one of the sales girl in the store. While such scenes are nowadays quite common womens fragrances are in existence longer than departmental stores. As a matter of fact, the ancient Mesopotamians and Egyptians were known to use oils and scents regularly.

Though we always feel that fragrances are something only or mainly used by ladies, since ages it has been applied by both woman and man. In fact the person who developed the fist perfume in the world was a woman called Tapputi who lived in Mesopotamia, 2000 years ago. She had some resources to develop scents.

Today, womens fragrances come in a very wide range, and the contents used to create these odors and fragrances and are just surprising. The sources for todays man and womans fragrances and colognes include flowers, fruits, resins plants and bark, and also civet and musk compounds from animals. Even synthetic odorants are mixed, but not in majority cases.

Though it is odd to think of floral womens fragrances with a beaver's glands, the manner in which scents are "developed" lets such odors to enhance the final product.The perfume experts describe these scents or perfumes with a musical approach - there are base, middle and top notes that create a harmony of quality scent. This way a musky odor complements a floral compound.

Ladies perfumes are not of a single kind, but come with different concentration levels. This makes a fragrance economical to a wide range of people. The quality perfumes are quite expensive and the highest concentrations marketed. You will also find Eau de Toilette, Eau de Cologne, Eau de Perfume, and other different "splashes" with little quantity of solvents and concentrates.

You can find ladies scents everywhere in the world. You can get them from department stores, specialty cosmetic shops, pharmacies and in boutiques and now also through online websites. The popularity of perfumes has diversified into soaps, lotions and body crmes and some brands provide a complete package of scented products in addition to womens perfume.
