Algarve Channel 5 Celebrates First Birthday

Algarve Channel 5, the regions only English speaking internet video channel has just celebrated its first year of broadcasting.

Started by two established Canadians film makers Natalie Olszowy and C. Paris Mattioli the channel has produced over 12 hours of original short films on the Algarve and produces a monthly "BEHIP" show on up and coming events for the region.

"When we moved here," says Natalie Olszowy " we noticed that was so much available but in written form only and thought the region deserved a video channel covering events and features - and this is what we tried to do."

Algarve Channel 5 has recently filmed the Historic Car Rally, FATACIL Scruffts Dog Show and Silves Medieval Fair. In addition the Channel has just produced a new feature show called "Algarve Chefs " ". a cooking programme for those interested in Portuguese cuisine. Future shows will include "Lifestyle" and "Gardens and Beyond" themes. Algarve Channel 5 has currently online, numerous filmed material on local tourist attractions such as golf courses, beaches, towns and festivals.

"We hope," says Paris Mattioli, "that local residents, firms and organizations will work with us to develop the output of the channel and make it must see tv."
