Albuquerque Colleges

If a student can get a good grant or scholarship, he or she can work through college for free. College fees and expenses can be unreasonably high for students. Ina private college fees and expenses can cost a sum of $20000 per academic year. In a public university fees and expenses can amount to $ 10000 and in a community college fees may be at least $5000per academic year.
The enactment of the, ’No child left behind’ Act’, ushered in a number of Federal and State grants to assist  students from low income families and families with social disabilities. There are Federal grants, State grants and grants specifically given to African American students, Hispanic students, Native American Students, Asian American Students and Women. Sallie May and Coca Cola give large grants for students who are the first in their family to get a college education. Grants are also given to those who served in the military and students who can show low income.
Scholarships are given to students on the basis of their personal qualities like athletic, artistic, academic and community service.
Both grants and scholarships do not have repayment terms and help the student to finish college or university for free.
Students who are ineligible for grants and scholarship can opt for loans. Shopping for loans gives the student the choice of low interest student loans. There are subsidized loans to pay for education subsidized by the government. Unsubsidized loans should be paid back by the student after graduation. If the student is steeped in debt there are companies that consolidate the debt and negotiate with creditors. Student loans cover tuition fees, lab fees, cost of living expenses and maintenance. Student loans can be obtained from banks and private lenders. Many student loans are based on the credit score of the parents. Alternate loans and bad credit loans are also available for students if guaranteed by their parents. Students can opt for graduated payments or suspend studies and payments and revive the loan when returning to college. This is called a Stafford loan.
Obtaining a student loan should be a last resort. Seeking grants and making an effort to obtain scholarships should be the student’s endeavor. This is because jobs are uncertain and student loans will make a student indentured to his or her debt upon finding a job.  With so many methods of studying college and university for free, a little hard work and discipline will help a student remain indebted to his or her alma mater than being indebted in truth.
