As if Alaska were not famous enough for their scenery and wildlife, but they are very famous for their excellent Alaskan food as well. Some of Alaska's specialties include wild berries, elk, caribou, king crab, halibut, shrimp, cod, clams, oysters and much more.

Of course by far the staple of Alaskan cuisine is the ever popular salmon. Alaska's salmon population is very plentiful and because of Alaska's prime location, it doesn't even need to be shipped in because the salmon live in Alaska already. All you have to do is catch them. Cook and enjoy! My mouth is watering!

Alaska is also quite well known for their fantastic sourdough breads. In fact, most homes even use it as a starter for any bread or other baked goods they are making.

Some folks think that the pioneers were responsible for bringing the scrumptious sourdough to the Alaska wilderness since they found it to be an easy traveler as well as a great food on the trail.

Also popular in Alaska is wild game. Some of the best include moose, elk, reindeer, and caribou which chefs use to prepare moose soup, reindeer sausage, and "loin of caribou".

Since Alaskans do a lot of hunting, most of the game they catch simply goes into a soup because it is easy and hearty for those chilly Alaskan nights.

So what if you are in Alaska and the though of one more moose stew is enough to drive you over the edge, have no fear, there are many other types of food found in Alaska.

The abundance of these ethnic tastes is mainly because of its location in relation to the Pacific. Along with the ethnic foods, Scandinavian dishes are popular too thanks to recipes passed down from generation to generation from the initial Scandinavian settlers.

So here's the deal, if you can't find something that you enjoy eating in Alaska, then perhaps you need to re-evaluate your taste buds!

Alaskan foods are so fresh and delicious that they are hard to compare with any other state. These foods are fresh and plentiful. When your Alaskan vacation takes you to your new adventure, be sure to take the time to enjoy the plentiful Alaskan foods. These delicious treats are a taste bud delight not to be missed.
