Airport Parking Tips To Save Money

By:

Figuring out how to get back and forth to the airport when you are flying is often a very stressful situation. If you have an early flight do you ask a friend for a ride or should you just park the car? Today airports have short, long term and economy parking . You can also find some shared services as well as places that are in town that let you leave your car when you travel.

Does short-term parking make sense? This is the most expensive option at the airport but may work well for you if you are away for a few days. Generally it is easy to get to terminal from there and has little hassle.

Many choose the long-term parking lot due to it being less expensive than the short-term lot. There is a shuttle or bus that will get you back and forth to airport buildings. This may be a good choice for you, especially for a family vacation.

The economy parking lot is usually the furthest from the airport buildings and will save you more money than short-term or long-term parking. It may be out in the open and not covered. You should also find out the security coverage at the lot. You also will be provided with a shuttle bus to reach the terminal.

It's easy to forget where you parked the car so write down the location of your parking spot so you can easily find it when you come back. You don't want to be frustrated by not finding your car late at night or exhausted from a trip.

In many cities now you can find an airport transportation service that lets you park in town and will drive you to the airport. They may even heat your car up when you return and offer you a warm drink and newspaper. Enquire about this as it can be a good price.

If you are parking in town, keep in mind that they may charge differently for having your car open to weather or sheltered. Depending on the age of your car, you may be fine with it being out in the open, especially if the weather is good. Always check how long the wait is to get their shuttle to and from the airport.

There is something called a shared ride van where you pay only 15.00 or so and are put in a van with other travellers. The convenience is that you can leave your car at home. The inconvenience is that you may be in the van for a while depending on the order you were place in for drop offs or pick ups.

Always compare pricing since these can vary from town to town. Also think about whether you want to pay for convenience or it's fine for you to spend longer time transporting in order to save money.
