Air Dome Installation

By:

If you are thinking about installing an air dome you will need to give consideration to the actual installation. You cant call just any general contractor to install an air dome because it requires some specialized knowledge and you will need to find an experienced air dome installer who has training and experience with installing an air supported structure. Since an air dome is exactly that it requires a knowledgeable installer who can insure the ultimate structure will stand up to the use that you require of it. This means all of the site preparation, the actual structural design and components, the air structure fabrication, any peripheral construction or site preparation and the actual erection of the air supported structure.

This is a type of structure that can be used as a permanent structure or as a temporary one depending on the intended uses. It can be used as an air warehouse for products or materials on a job site or it may be used for seasonal shelter for recreational purposes or it can be used as emergency shelters at remote locations. An air supported structure is a multi-use structure that will cost less than a conventional building. Unlike a conventional building this air structure can be moved to another location if the site is prepped for it. It can also be erected and dismantled as the seasons change and the uses change.

An air supported structure is intended to be a year round structure which can withstand winds, snow loads and changes in temperature. The lightweight fabric that is used in the manufacture of an air supported structure can be UV protected to withstand a lot of the suns UV rays so it wont deteriorate and shred. This type of material may be vinyl. So what is vinyl exactly? Vinyl is converted from hydrocarbon based raw materials into polymers through a chemical process. The end result is vinyl which can be very rigid and tough for a side of a building or it is also the only plastic thin and flexible enough to be used as vinyl banners. It has excellent flame retardant properties and can be extremely UV resistant so vinyl makes a perfect lightweight material to create air supported buildings. Also in use for these air supported structures is fiberglass, or polyester that may be coated with polymers such as PVC or Teflon.

When these air structures are manufactured they can be created in several different forms. The most seen is the dome shaped air structure because it has the greatest volume while using the least amount of material. They can also be triangular shaped or rectangular or even square. All have different tension cable requirements to keep the ceiling in place and they may also require different stabling systems in or on the ground. The ground or foundation requirements may vary by job site and where the structure is being set up. The various shapes may require different anchors or supports to keep them in place.
