Air And Winds Will Only Make A Fire Grow Stronger

By:

When you have a fire and high winds, you are really in for a lot of damages caused by these two separate situations. As wind will keep a fire alive, if this happens to show up at during a fire, you might be looking at a total loss. The fire fighters themselves will have a really big problem on their hands trying to put out this fire and keeping themselves alive. They might have a fire put out in one spot, but if the wind is there, they might have to go back to this same spot again.

If you have a small fire inside your home, they might have a lot easier time putting this type of fire out as the chance of any breeze coming into the picture might be small. But even these small fires can get out of hand even for the firemen. When the insulation is caught on fire, this burning stuff can put out toxic fumes putting the lives of these firefighters in grave danger. There are also several other things that will send off toxic fumes that these brave men and woman have to fight on a daily basis. Some of these are the stuff in your mattresses, the cushions on your couch and chair, and the plastic coating that is on your wiring.

If you can not get a fire out inside your home, if you can, shut the door to the room on fire and put a towel or other fabric under the door to keep air from getting into the room. This will help suffocate the fire somewhat and perhaps slow it sown. Get out of the house and call in the fire department to have them put out the fire. Do not try to go back into the room or house once you are out, just wait. In some cases you might be able to stop the fire before the fire department arrives, but do not risk your life to find out.

You could still lose whatever you had in this room, but you might be able to save most of your home. All it really takes is a small breeze to allow this fire to blaze out of control and it will run for as long as it has the airflow coming. You should also have some of the smoke detectors in your home to warn you if a fire happens at night. If you have a fire break out in the home and you have time, turn off any blowing heat, air conditioning, or ceiling fans as this will also help fan the flames.
