Aida At Masada

For those grand opera fans, youre sure to have heard of and maybe even seen Verdis Aida once or twice. But youre guaranteed never to have seen it like this. Masada is a group of ancient and important Hebrew palaces and fortifications in Israel, and is one of the most sacred and beautiful places of the Hebrew faith. Aida, a great grand opera that is known around the world, will be performed at Masada in 2011 for the dedicated few who love and cherish classic operas. Aida

Aida was first conducted by Guiseppe Verdi and has been performed in both French and Italian. The plot was written by Mariette Bey, and it was written in French by Camille de Locle and in Italian by Antonio Ghislanzoni. Originally produced in Cairo Egypt in 1871, it has been performed in the great cities all over the world, and now its coming to the Masada.

Aida is set in ancient Egypt in the time of the Epoch of the Pharaohs. If it were a Shakespearean play it would be labeled a tragedy, and tells the story of a young Ethiopian captive and slave named Aida, who is secretly in love with an Egyptian General Radames. When Radames is sentenced to death by live entombment, Aida conspires to be in the tomb with him in order to die with him and be with him forever.

Masada Performances

Aida at Masada is a much-anticipated and highly exclusive event that will be taking place on June second, fourth and fifth 2011. The Masada is a gorgeous setting for an elegant evening at the opera, and Israel is one of the most up-and-coming areas for opera in todays world.
