Aging Doesn't Have To Be Stressful

Aging Doesn't Have To Be Stressful

By:

Life goes by too quickly, or does it?

Aging can be very a stressful time for many, not just in their appearance, but also feeling like they might have missed out on things in life.

When you look in the mirror, you don't have to wish that the wrinkles and love handles that seemed to appear as if overnight would poof, disappear, and you would be young again and be able to do things differently.

You can start fresh today and create the life you want to live. Yes, your outer appearance will still be the same, but your inner beauty will shine through more brilliantly than it already does. You can't go back, but you can go forward and age gracefully and happily.

Whether you valued who you were then, or how your life was, doesn't really matter now. What is important is that you are appreciating and making time for you and the days you have before you, wrinkles, sags, and all.

Is it possible that wishing life would just slow down instead of cherishing the time you have may play a role in how fast it goes by and how much you are, or aren't, enjoying it?

Often you will hear children say they can't wait to be older and then as adults they wish they were younger again.

It's true, if you choose, you can slow down the physical aging process with anti-aging serums and cosmetic surgery, but you can't deny who you are and that you're becoming older.

Ah...but as you become older, the good news is you can also become wiser and remain young at heart.

So what's wrong with the creases and crows feet, and perhaps a little jiggle in the middle? Nothing, except the way you see yourself.

At the end of the day, what really matters when you look in the mirror it isn't your appearance, although you may question this for awhile as you age, bur rather it's knowing it's the person you are on the inside that counts. Then you're really getting this "aging thing".

It's the morals and values you hold, the love and kindness you share, the helping hand and shoulder to lean on that you offer.

It's the blessings in your life, both big and small.

It's the quality, not the quantity, of time you spend with your family, friends, partner, children, and grandchildren.

It's the smiles and hugs, laughter and tears that truly add joy to your years, and allows you to grow as a person and appreciate the life you have. It's being able to look yourself in the mirror and see past the outer layer and see it's the inner beauty and essence of "who" you are that truly matters.

The next time you look in the mirror and you find yourself saying, "Yikes" to the extra wrinkle that appeared over night, take a second look.

See past the outer appearance and notice the wonderful qualities in you.

Really look into your eyes. See the sparkle, the kindness, the love.

Ask yourself, "What's really important, the way I look or the way I am?"

Appreciate your age, cherish the people in your life and the days you have.

Acknowledge the blessings in your life and be honoured to be here and a part of the magnificent world.

Don't look in the mirror and wish you looked or were different. Love who you are, inside and out.
