Affiliate Marketing Tips: How To Select Products From Clickbank

Clickbank has been around for years and it is often the first site that newcomers to affiliate marketing use to try their hand at online promotion and sales. Clickbank specialise in downloadable products such as ebooks, educational material and the odd piece of software. With just one monthly subscription, it's possible to sell any number of their products on the internet, and there are certainly many products to choose from.

One of the biggest challenges is determining which products to promote.

The most common practice is to browse through the Clickbank Marketplace to select products with high gravity. Gravity is a ranking measurement based on how many sales have been made of the product in the last 12 weeks. However, it is not just based on how many sales, but each time a sale is made, it will add a count to the number of gravity.

Using this method alone to pick a winner will not be the best approach. For example, you may pick a product that WAS popular but it is decreasing in popularity and is on it's way downwards in it's sales cycle now and hasn't sold a single copy in the last month. Alternatively, it might be that there are so many people selling it that the competition is very difficult to break through.

You'll also need to consider whether the product is any good. Promoting a product that you haven't tried yourself can be difficult. For a start, if it turns out that the product isn't a quality item, then you are at risk of damaging your reputation and credibility online. Passion can sell a product a lot easier too - so without passion for it, you could experience an uphill struggle - something that most affiliate marketers want to avoid.

When I'm finding my affiliate products to promote, I will quite often go to the site www.cbtrends.com and perform more research on the product. I will look at trends, and whether it is a long term good seller. There has to be demand for a product, and products that solve an immediate need, such as a misbehaving dog or a health issue such as candida albicans can often sell very well if strong keyword research is used.

So the conclusion? Don't just pick products from Clickbank with high gravity scores. Use the gravity score as a starting point to work out from. Check the trend, check out the sales page and even go so far as to review the product yourself to understand what you are offering and whether it is of a quality that you are happy to have your name associated with.

You'll not want to risk your hard earned credibility nor waste time and effort trying to sell a product that will not support you in the selling of it.
