Affiliate Marketing Products, Where To Find Affiliate Marketing Products To Sell

If you are new to affiliate marketing you may be wondering where to find the products you want to sell. There are two main types of affiliate programs to choose from which offer varying amounts of commission. This article discusses the types of affiliate programs, gives ideas on where to get started and some common mistakes to avoid.

Over the last few years the affiliate marketing industry has boomed and it is now possible to find products to sell just about anywhere you look. There are two main avenues that a business or individual will use to market their affiliate programs. They will use Affiliate Networks or Independent Affiliate Programs.

An affiliate network is a company that handles the products for many companies for a fee or percentage. They handle all aspects of the transactions for the company including tracking, making payments, handling returns and support. Some popular affiliate network companies include Clickbank, LinkShare, Commission Junction, and Share a Sale.

An Independent Affiliate Program is one that is handled by the company itself. They are in charge of every aspect of the sales, shipping, returns and payments. Companies like Amazon.com and Walmart have their own affiliate programs.

Companies vary in the amount of commission that they offer their affiliates. The percentage can range anywhere from about 4% to 75% depending on the store or product. Companies like Amazon start you out with a 4% commission rate and then increase this percentage based on your monthly sales. The more you sell the more you make.

Many first time affiliates are attracted to Clickbank because so many of the commission rates are between 50% - 75%. Clickbank is an affiliate network that deals specifically with digital products. This includes items such as e-books or video products that can be downloaded. Clickbank is also popular because they have made the whole process very easy to sign up and they pay affiliates every two weeks. With several hundred thousand products to choose from, it is not difficult to choose a product.

Some tips on choosing an affiliate product for those that are new

Dont choose a product that is hard to break into. Topics such as weight loss, making money or golf are extremely competitive. Choose something with less competition when you are getting your feet wet. An added benefit to choosing less popular subject is that you dont have to worry about being rejected by the article directory and your articles will often be approved much faster. If you create a landing page in Squidoo, for example, they have specific subjects that are off limits because of the over saturation of the product or because the product became to salesy.

Look for products that have an opt-in page. This is a great advantage to you because even after you have done your work of taking them to the landing page, if they opt in to the mailing list, they will continue to be sold to for days or even weeks after their original visit.

Make sure that the product you have chosen is extremely relevant to the niche you are marketing to. This means that if you are trying to tell someone how to lose fat from underneath their arms that the product that you direct them to does exactly that.

You will find products to sell online just about everywhere you look. Just remember to check out commission rates and payment details before you join. And rememberit doesnt hurt to find products to market that will bring you more money. It takes just as much effort to market a $10 product as it does to market a $500 product.
