Affiliate Marketing - Why Beginners Should Begin Here

So what is Affiliate Marketing? There are literally thousands and thousands of business being promoted via the internet as affiliate marketing. When a person has a product to sell whether it's a downloadable product or a physical product they can choose to sell their product through others, giving them a commission on every sale.

This type of marketing usually does not require you to have a website, or a product because you will be selling other people's products. When you sign up to become an affiliate you will receive your own website with the product for selling already on the site and your code will be embedded in it. Every time you get a sale the commission gets marked up to you via the embedded code, you don't need any experience or special skills to start earning money using this framework.

Care needs to be taken when signing up as an affiliate because some are scams and the best way to be sure that you are not being taken for a ride, especially when starting out, is to do affiliate marketing via companies like Clickbank, PayDotCom and Commission Junction. I'll explain about these in a minute.

There are many reasons for doing this, the first is it's free to join these companies. The second is they checkout each product and seller before allowing them to add their product and lastly you get paid commission via these companies and do not have to deal directly with the seller. This is a very secure way for beginners as you will definitely get paid and not have to wait for each individual seller to pay you or not.

I'll explain what these companies are. Clickbank sells only downloadable products, Commission Junction mainly sell physical products, and PayDotCom is similar to both, so its up to the individual what he want to do. I suggest Clickbank to start with for beginners because it is the easiest to learn, Commission Junction and PayDotCom takes a bit of getting used to. Clickbank have a very easy system for signing up and becoming an affiliate and you get paid on the dot every two weeks without fail. Also Clickbank requires all their seller sites (people who sell their products via Clickbank) to offer a 60 day money back guarantee.

One suggestion, when you sign up for free at Clickbank your user I.D will become part of your embedded code and if you have a very long user I.D this may cause problems when trying to advertise, as some types of advertising will not accept very long URL's. I suggest a short user I.D, you will have to experiment until you get one that has not been taken. Once you have your user I.D you can use the same one for all of the other programs as this will make your life easier.

Affiliate marketing is just like any legitimate business, it demands diligence, perseverance and continuous learning. Any kind of internet marketing is not a get-rich-overnight scheme, there is no such thing. Like any business it takes time and money, but much less than any other business and the rewards are very satisfying because you are doing it for yourself, that's freedom believe me.

It represents a uniquely powerful online marketing channel that provides you with an unparalleled opportunity to partner with innovative entrepreneurs looking to promote your products or services on a pay for performance basis. Unlike other types of online marketing, such as pay-per-click and banner advertising, that require you to risk money upfront, affiliate marketing is strictly pay-for-performance. Affiliate marketing is a very good way to make money online if you do it correctly and you don't even need to leave your home to make money in affiliate marketing.
