Aerial Yoga: The Future Of Aerobics

Joints and high pressure do not go good together. When you have a lot of tension in your joints your body can feel fatigued, your mental clarity may be drained, and you could even be in pain.

Now there are a lot of ways you can relieve these joints of such pain, but there are none more exciting and revolutionary than aerial yoga. This form of exercise really puts the air in aerobics.

Practitioners are strung about three feet in the air dangling from a single cloth that is roped through a hook in the ceiling. When you are practicing aerial yoga you have to be sure that you are doing it safely.

If there is any indication that the hook in the ceiling may come out then you need to find a safer spot to bolt your hook. Also, you are going to need to get a sturdy cloth that is going to be durable enough to hold your entire body weight.

You have probably seen the women at cirque du solei windup in their rags and then unravel in a dazzling and daring flight toward the ground only to stop just before they hit their nose on the stage their ballerina counterparts are dancing on. This is also aerial aerobics, but done in much more of an extreme manner.

Aerial yoga is not meant to be a heart pumping extreme sport, but rather a relaxing way to clear your mind and sooth your soul while relaxing your body. It is a practice that combines and integrates the soul, mind and body.

This would be called a holistic practice, and as crazy as swaying around on a cloth like it is a swing set and trying to harmonize your mind, body and soul, as crazy as all this sounds, it is becoming very popular. Interestingly enough, there are gyms or aerobic studios in New York, California and well most other big states that are hip and in the now where people go learn from an aerial instructor.

How they ever went into that as their profession is a mystery, but it is envious to say the least. You would probably have to be a student of the class for a good period of time and then plead for an apprenticeship before you could be called a master aerial yogi.

If you are not ready to start swinging around with a group of people you are not familiar with perhaps you can start doing some stretches in your house. That is a good way to begin practicing.
