Adventure travel is something that is done by almost each and every one of us with a specific purpose in mind. This purpose is about exploring remote and exotic places. The number of adventure tourists has been seen to be increased by great number in the past few years.

This is quite an exciting type of a tourism that allows the tourist to step outside the comfort zone and explore different places that he or she had never thought of exploring or visiting.

Basically two important things happen on a visit like this

1. There is exchange of culture and idea. There is an intermingling of people who belong to absolutely different places.

2. There is also an engagement and relation that people develop with the nature on a trip like this.

Some of these are social tourism and jungle tourism.

In this type of tourism, the person has to almost give up all the technological and other comforts. There are no forms of distractions for him and he tries to get really close with nature.

There are some forms and types of adventure tourism.

They are:

1. Disaster tourism

As the name suggests, in this type of tourism, the person travels to a place that is hit by a disaster, manmade or natural in nature. By travelling to this type of a place, the basic motive that he has in mind is to explore the place and see with hi naked eyes as to what has happened.

2. Ethno tourism

This is a type of tourism that involves people going to a new place or country. This trip is planned so that the tourist can observe the people and the members of the society.

This would mean a lot of observation coupled with interaction with the people. The emphasis here is on the primitive people, i.e., the tribes.

3. Ghetto tourism

This is a type of tourism. The only difference here is that the targeting in only a very small region. This region is more like a clan that is staying together.

4. Jungle tourism

This is very popular type o tourism. A lot of youngsters are showing their interest in this type of tourism. This means that the group of tourist or the individual tourist travels to the jungle like regions that are not inhabited by human being.

This is very specific with respect to the region, culture and activity. This involves spending some time with Mother Nature and with the other creations. The person stays in a situation like this and often depends on whatever is available for food and for his survival.

Overland travel

This is a form of tourism where people plan going to far away land and places. This is a type that is being preferred by a lot of people these days. These are in the forms of extended holidays that are for a large number of days.

This is generally done in a large group and a lot of people go in big vehicle like a bus.
