Advantages To Working From Home Without Starting A Business

By:

I don't have anything against starting a business, because I own one. However, there's a time for everything. Your debt and financial circumstances might dictate that you work from home as a contractor or employee first. It can take years to build a successful business, and it does require an investment, risk, and not to mention a lot of trial and error on your part. While you grow your business, there are ways to earn enough to pay your bills with home jobs. Here's how it works:

Advantage #1 - Flexibility

I had no idea how many home jobs were out there for professionals until I had to find ways to earn a paycheck from home. I graduated with student loans, and it was the only outstanding debt hanging over my head as a stay at home mom. Over the years I tried various business ideas, but the money I made was modest at best, and the debt wasn't going away. Neither was the stress caused by owing so much debt, which happened to be the only debt in our home. I started my own search for legitimate jobs that I could work from home. The variety of jobs available astonished me, and I decided to go for it. I searched job boards and found job listings to match my skills, and ended up with three very different jobs. The jobs were flexible enough for me to work two at the same time, and boost my hourly pay. I was also able to work most hours while my children were asleep.

Advantage #2 - No Investment Required

Running a business requires you to invest capital. Even if you start an online business, there are certain expenses that you have to pay for upfront and on a monthly basis, such as Internet service, web hosting and domain registration. You don't have to invest money in legitimate work at home jobs. There are a few jobs, like working as a virtual call agent, that may require you to pay a deposit to receive phone equipment to do the job. When you return the equipment, your deposit is returned to you. This is not like work at home scams which ask you to pay to buy their "turnkey system" or to pay them a membership fee in order to work. You should avoid those.

Advantage #3 - No Risk on Your Part

You bear all the risk as a business owner, and the weight is on your shoulders for any money mistakes you make. You also risk not making enough money in the beginning to provide for your family or to pay your bills. The advantage of work at home jobs is that someone else bears the risk. You earn a steady paycheck for as long as you keep your job, which you can count on.

Work at home jobs can be a stepping stone to a great business that might take you years to grow. I worked on my business on the side while I worked as an employee from home. I had the income and security that I needed as a parent that a startup venture could not provide.
