Advancements In Female Studies

Womens studies explore the diversity in female experiences and the contributions that women have given to different cultures. It also examines the knowledge and practices of the world in light of gender differences, and even goes further to explain the relations between the woman and the dynamics of the community. Female studies are inter-disciplinary, drawing on knowledge form other fields, including the humanities, arts, social sciences and the natural sciences.

Empowerment
Womens concerns have continued to grow in importance worldwide, and women studies have played a huge role in empowering women on their rights as well as making vital resources and facilities available to them. From womens studies, it has come to light that equal treatment of women and men requires that each individual be provided with what they require to survive, and not necessarily what everyone else, in this case men, are getting.

Health
The health of women is especially a critical part of womens studies since women have different health needs from those of men. For instance in Phase I studies, where the safety of drugs is studies in humans, womens studies demand that part of the examinations should include the effect of the drugs in the different genders. Because of the different make-up of the male and female bodies, this means that a drug may have one effect on males, and a completely different effect on women.

Reproduction
In addition, these studies also examine the different roles that women play in the society, and how this affects their quality of life. Since women are primarily the child-bearing gender, this in itself has serious implications on their health, making them more vulnerable to certain health problems. As a result of such knowledge, gynecological studies have also taken significant strides in ensuring that women receive adequate healthcare when it comes to their reproductive health.

Research
Womens studies have also been influential in getting research organizations to put more effort in researching the aspects of society that directly affect the health of women, and their quality of life as a whole. In addition, sponsors have also become more willing to invest resources into such projects, so that there has been an increase in CRO (contract research organization) participation in womens issues.

Advancement
Womens studies have definitely played a huge role in ensuring that womens issues are given adequate attention. As such, it is important that more individuals seek to be involved in female studies as the society continues to advance.
