Address Validation With Courier Software

By:

With every courier company always striving to outdo their competition, one of the most sought after items in the industry is the most technologically advanced and most effective courier software on the market. Because the right software can simplify every aspect of the company's operations, such as accounting, order placement, dispatching, logistics, and tracking, it is vital to have the best software available in order to stay competitive in this ever increasingly technologically dependent industry. However, there are many features that can be very valuable to delivery companies which aren't known about as commonly as something like integrated GPS tracking, which everyone is aware of. One of these features which can be quite helpful is address validation.

One of the most common errors which cost a courier (and their clients) money is incorrect addressing of packages. This happens in a number of different ways, all with the same result. A client might make a typo, they might have misheard or misread the address initially, or they might write it down illegibly and someone at the courier might make a mistake. Dispatch software with address validation can automatically cross reference every address entered into the system and verify that it is a valid address somewhere within the country.

Also, if a piece of information, like a zip code, happens to be missing, address validation can look that up online to complete the address to ensure that the delivery is made to the correct destination with no problems along the way. Other information is available to, for instance, if a street was missing a directional designation, a zip code could tell the computer whether or not that was '12th St East' or '12th St West' something that can save the drivers a lot of time, and the company money if a wrong delivery was made.

Out of all the possible errors that can be made by a delivery company, none is so important to avoid as an incorrect delivery. Even if the error was on their end, client satisfaction is likely going to be very poor if you deliver their package to an incorrect address. In addition, the company itself will lose a great deal of money on wasted gas and wages both for the time the driver took to deliver the package incorrectly, and for the time it takes to go send someone out to pick the package up a second time and try to deliver it to the correct address.
