Carpet, tile, marble, and other flooring choices just simply lack the look that hardwood floors provide. There are a few kinds of hardwood floors and they differ in immunity to problems, color, and thickness. Also, wood types for hardwood floors have different strengths as far as how long they will remain in good shape. No matter what type of hardwood floors you choose, you will see the beauty and natural look each day you walk into your home.

Solid Wood Hardwood Flooring
Solid wood flooring are made in two different ways: finished and unfinished. Unfinished solid wood floors must be sanded and finished after they are put down. Finished flooring comes pre-sanded and complete and can be installed right away. Some choose unfinished so that they can insure a good installation before finishing the floors. This makes it so the scratching or chipping that happens during installation gets taken care of before the completion of the finish. Solid Wood flooring come in three different kinds:

Plank Plank hardwood flooring comes in a measured thickness while the width of each and every plank can be different.

Strip - Strip flooring is sold in a set width, but the thickness can be different.

Parquet This kind of hardwood floor is completely different than strip flooring or plank flooring. Each piece of parquet is crafted to include geometrical shapes. These patterns or shape blocks are fastened together with tough glue or some type of staple.

Engineered Wood Flooring
This kind of flooring has some wood but it is not 100% wood. The process of manufacturing engineered wood flooring includes the adding of plastic laminates over real wood. This type of flooring is totally different than laminate flooring and is sometimes confused for it.

Acrylic-Impregnated Flooring
This kind of floor is made by injections of a sealant into the wood. The floor includes the brilliant color and glow of the sealant throughout the whole volume of the wood. Therefore, if you reduced the woods surface little by little, there would be the same brilliance of color and luster that you do at the surface of the wood.

Hardwood floors come in a few different types and grades. When deciding on wood flooring for your home, you should be conscious of a few different things. One of the first things to consider is price. Hardwood flooring has an extremely wide range in cost; you should always arrive on a budget before buying a hardwood flooring type. Another thing is durability. Hardwood flooring has different strengths, hardness, and life. With this change in durability, one should always consider traffic in the house, the presence of children, air quality, and the presence of any moisture and other elements.
